More about the functionality later. When you need to use the HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3788 printer, pull out the paper holder at the back and the back of the printed pages at the front, and then fill it a little more on the desktop. On the top side I find the switch on the left and a control panel to the right. I connected the HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3788 to the computer via USB and put the CD in the drive and the first one I was notified was if I would rather not download the installer from the net. It did and after a short time the printer was set up, and then I used the setup to connect the HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3788 to my Wifi, and then disconnected the USB connection.
All tests are then performed with HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3788 connected via wifi, as it is by far the most flexible connection method. The control panel consists of eight buttons and LEDs, and a simple LCD display. This is where you can remove paper jammed, enable Wifi, both ad-hoc (direct to a mobile phone) or normal connection to the network. There is also an info button (because of the simple display) prints a page with the printer's current settings and state of Wifi and ink levels. Here are two buttons that control black and white copying and color copying, respectively.

On the backside, the USB socket and the power plug are located. The scanner is a type that draws a sheet through a crack on the printer, and scans it in that way. It can only scan sheets, and do not book any other thicker materials. I've scanned a plain 10 × 15 photo in best resolution. It took about 40 seconds, and the result was not impressive. There is a lack of detail in the image, and it took a few tries to make it drag the picture pretty much through the scanner. And if you look properly, you'll see a lot of stripes, which are definitely dust on the scanner itself, but that's hard to clean. You can also see stripes in dark areas of the image, which are certainly not due to dust and are not on the original image.
